Suneeva Saldanha

Suneeva Saldanha uses imagery as a preferred mode of communication and an integral aspect of self-expression. Born in Virajpet, Kodagu and raised in Bengaluru, flora and fauna of the Western Ghats in South India have imprinted into their visual language. Often intertwining surreal elements with floral imagery to explore the profound connection between nature and the human psyche, Saldanha aims to evoke emotions and convey symbolic meanings in dreamlike, fantastical scenes.

Influenced by Indian miniature style, Saldanha’s works are detailed with structural organic forms that are rooted in cultural nuances. The geometrically repetitive structures are tied to the practice of creating the element over and over again as a meditative outlet.

Saldanha pursued animation studies and worked as an art facilitator before settling in Seattle as a full time artist.
