Li Turner

Seattle-based artist Li Turner creates evocative watercolor paintings that confront social issues with insight, humor, and emotional resonance. Her work, at once intimate and political, examines the layered realities of oppression, resilience, and defiance. With a mix of wit and vulnerability, she brings a strong, unmistakable voice to her art. Through painting, she builds a visual language of critique and care, revealing the injustices of our time and daring viewers to stay long enough to feel them.

Turner’s paintings, though visually striking, are not simply decorative. The surface beauty is an entry point, inviting the viewer closer. It is only through prolonged engagement that the layered narratives begin to unfold. Her paintings are human and alive with the contradictions of our time.

Turner’s work is held in the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the University of Washington Medical Center, and Portland Contemporary Arts Gallery. She has exhibited across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia.
