Jessie Summa Russo is a third-generation artist in West Seattle. Raised in Somerville, Massachusetts, she received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and studied illustration at Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Hired to create digital imagery for a living, Russo never lost the compulsion to make art with her hands. She began a regular practice in 2015 with a series of collages on vinyl records that made use of her substantial—some might say excessive—collection of paper ephemera. She continues to refine her technique of mixed media layers that reveal and obscure, surprising viewers with fragments that only appear upon closer inspection.
