Artist Talk: Lin-Lin Mao Mollitor

  • 110 3rd Ave S Seattle, WA 98104 (map)

Lin-Lin Mao Mollitor & Malou Chávez (NWIRP)

Artist Member Lin-Lin Mao Mollitor

Malou Chávez, Executive Director, NWIRP

Seattle artist Lin-Lin Mao Mollitor’s July exhibition includes paintings of her memories of immigrating to America as a young child in 1965, as well as paintings that speak to identity. It includes a wildflower sculpture made of wire and beads, which represent hope and belonging in an increasingly connected world.

Mollitor dedicates the sculpture, which is comprised of 200 wire flower stems in the form of a child holding the American flag, to the Dreamers who grew up in the US and feel American but do not have legal permanent residency. She is donating the proceeds of the sale of individual stems of wildflowers to Northwest Immigrant Rights Project. NWIRP defends and advances the rights of immigrants in Washington State through advocacy and legal services.

Malou Chavez, the executive director of NWIRP, will be at this artist talk to speak about her organization’s important work.

Reception to follow.
